The Hualālai ‘Ohana Foundation offers Academic Merit Awards to provide incentive and recognize students who are achieving in the top tier of academic performance to reward their hard work.

ACADEMIC MERIT

Program Mission:

This award was established to provide incentive and recognize students who are achieving in the top tier of academic performance.  To reward the hard work and dedication shown in their studies, this cash award is not based on need or tuition cost.  This award is granted based solely on cumulative GPA and paid directly to the student.

Program Overview:

Applicants for this award must be a Higher Education student; incoming Freshmen through college graduation.  The student must be enrolled full-time in an accredited educational institution.  The student must also maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Award Structure:

High School Graduate in June – registered for college in the Fall:
Must provide High School transcripts with a cumulative GPA of 3.5.
Must also provide proof of college enrollment (as of August) for an award of $500.00

Student completed 1st year of college in June:
Must provide College transcripts with a GPA of 3.5 (as of June) for an award of $2,500.00

Student completed 2nd year of college in June:
Must provide College transcripts with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 (as of June) for an award of $2,500.00

Student completed 3rd year of college in June:
Must provide College transcript with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 (as of June) for an award of $2,500.00.

Student graduated college in June:
Must provide College transcript with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 (as of June) for an award of  $2,500.00.

Eligible Recipients:

Eligible recipients are Hualālai Community employees, their spouses and their legal dependent children up to age 24.  Employees who are not parents of children they are applying for must provide documentation of legal guardianship.

Students must be enrolled in an accredited educational institution or program. Students must meet minimum cumulative GPA (grade point average) of 3.5 or higher  Official transcripts will be required for all applications.

*No extensions.  Application packet must include all documents; completed application sheet, personal letter, and official transcript.  Incomplete packets, late applications, faxed or emailed copies will not be accepted.
